It’s always a privilege being asking to photograph the day two people on their wedding day, but there is something extra magical when you’ve know those two people since high school. I met Kelsie and Tony through musical theater when we were teenagers and over a decade later, their wedding at the Botanic Gardens and the Mercury Café was an amazing performance of love and laughter, family and friendship, creativity and art. While most couples give me a timeline, this musical duo literally gave me a set list.
The Botanical Gardens was the perfect backdrop for this couple who share a strong connection to all things green, nurturing and growing. Highlights of the day included Kelsie’s dress which was handmade by her sister, a practical river of happy tears, and a musical showcase under the twinkle light glow of the Mercury Café during which friends and family took to the stage with their flutes, guitars and melodicas! The newlyweds themselves even performed their first song.
And I’d be remiss not to mention I had the honor of my high school photography teacher second shooting with me for the day, which also was a pleasant surprise to so many former students in attendance!
